Description:

Vellic’s lean build draws up to a height of 6’0’, not counting boots. He has slightly drawn yet angular features. In general, his oddly youthful appearance obscures his true age - making him look significantly younger than he actually is. Bearing the characteristic white hair and silver eyes of the Echani, Vellic’s pale skin complements them in such as way as to almost make him appear more like a ghost. There is a duality to his behavior. Often, he is a figure of calm and calculating coldness – using his focused calm to watch and examine his surroundings. Yet, at a moments notice he can conjure up a practiced smile and jovial/friendly demeanor that tends to set common people more at ease. Though generally covered up, three long and thin scars run horizontally across his lower chest. The aged scars are now pale and faded, the last remnants of a Terentateks' swiping claws.

He has the body of a lean hunter, and he moves with the quiet, graceful step of one used to stalking prey. His hair is shoulder-length and parted in the middle so that it falls to frame his face; often with the consequence that strands from his bangs drift frustratingly into his view. For years, Vellic refused to don the standard black outfit so commonly seen amongst the sith. First wearing a set of black, cyan trimmed, robes intended to set himself apart. Then he moved on to a shuliar silk padded outfit with a silver sash that gave him a bit of a noblesque visage. But now that he has ascended to a Lord amongst the Jen'Jidai, the traditional Echani, as if acting under some sense of obligation, donned the all-black tunic and cloak of the sith order.

His hands are left bare, while soft black leather boots pad his step. His left forearm sports a dark metallic Echani Dueling Shield. At his waist is another metallic object, his stealth field enhancer. Hanging from his belt is occasionally a myriad of other objects, his dark metallic gray lightsaber, or perhaps - should he be expecting serious trouble - one or two thermal detonators. Often his double-bladed shoto saber dangles from his left hip. The handle of his lightsaber is dark and metallic, with a faintly pulsing cyan energy modulator near the fore. The grip is slightly contoured, while the rest of the weapon is smooth and faintly glossy. It features two dual-phase switches near the guard. Within the handle, lies Jenruax and Stygium crystals.

Class/Skills/Attributes: In his youth, Vellic fancied himself something of a hunter/assassin. As such, he focused his training in close combat, stealth, and emergency treatment of injuries and basic anatomy. Being a child raised in the political caste of Eshan, he became rather experienced in dealing with and manipulating people, often having a bit of a diplomatic mindset. He came to understand politics and knows how to craft his words in order to get what he wants.

His favorite lightsaber style is Ataru, though he is skillful with Shii-cho, Makashi, and Shien as well. His favorite force powers are force telekinesis, speed, jump, and energy suppression.

Force Ability: Vellic is a skilled warrior and master of the Ataru form, though he has altered his form into a completely different defensive style designed for dueling. His focus tends to be on combat and acrobatic attacks; utilizing his echani training to subtly blend with his opponent. Furthermore, a strange prophetic talent has awakened with him. As an Echani, he has always strived to predict the movements of his opponents, but he became increasingly fascinated with predicting things through the movements of the Force itself. Now, he combines these skills to predict things before they occur - even in combat, granting him the illusion of incredible speed and lightning fast reflexes.

However, he believes in the power of balance - and has not shunned his studies of the force. In more recent years, he has studied under the tutelage of Lord Thelxepia, becoming her Archon within the Jen'Jidai. While still preferring close combat, he has endeavored to focus his telekinetic training into a finely controlled instrument, instead of the brute power he utilized before. His training to develop defenses against energy-based attacks lead to a discover of an aptitude for energy suppression - rivaled only be his emergent prophetic abilities.

Languages: Galatic Basic, Mando'a, some Zabraki.

Equipment/Apparel: He carries a hand and a half dual-phase lightsaber at his right hip, cyan in blade color. He also has a Neural Communications Implant (only visible as a thin gray plate that curves around the back of his right ear), Echani personal shield, and Stealth field enhancer. He carries a second lightsaber at times; a double bladed shoto-saber, red, balanced for throwing.

Vellic has also commissioned a variant Echani-style armor for himself. This suit, which he generally only wears when expecting heavy combat, is a set of black pants and top composed of durable, temperature regulating nano-fibers. Atop this high-tech 'cloth' are multiple, light, seperated, silver-colored plates. There is a larger plate over each pectoral and each side of his upper back, as well as a larger plate at his upper arms, right forearm, shins and the fronts of his thighs. Four smaller plates are located over his abdomen and lower back with one smaller plate at the back of each hand.

This suit provides no protection against lightsabers and only minimal defense against blasters and bladed weaponry; however, it is designed to be highly resistant to high-velocity impacts, blows, and shrapnel. Additionally, the nano-weave cloth is designed to be thermal resistant and has specialized circuits that serve to help ground out electrical currents. Lastly, there is another plate on his left forearm which has a normal rim but is thinner - providing a linkup and attachment for his Echani shield and enabling a hands-free activation of that device. Vellic generally wears a sleeveless, open black cloak over this armor.

Starship(s): Personal long-range scout ship: The Penitent Dawn. Seats two, carries three, with limited cargo space and a single fully-rotational quad-turret; mounted just below the cockpit.

Personality: Through the efforts of Lord Thelxepia and others, Vellic has managed to move on from the ghosts of his past. He now appears to have a strange duality to his personality - a duality that would, to most, likely appear as a bizarre and erratic moodiness. However, this duality is contrived. He often switches between two extremes. In the first, he appears cool and aloof - regarding people with an unreadible (if slightly disdainful) expression. Yet at other times, he appears jovial and friendly - raising his well-practiced smile in order to draw others nearer to himself. Despite the advancements in breaking from his past - he is still mistrustful of others, particularly powerful sith and women.

Goals and Ambitions: With the blooming of his prophetic abilities, Vellic was haunted by several dismal visions pertaining to the coming war. He stepped up at the Mother Saarai-Kaar Thelxepia's Archon and served as Saarai-Kaar beneath her - seeing it as his only way to attempt to change the future that he had foreseen. Now, having taken up the mantle of Father Saarai-Kaar, he seeks to ready the sith of Jen'Jidai - to forge them not only into sith, but into warriors that can prevail in the coming war.

History:

Back story: : ((summarized, since I don't want to give too much away before finishing the background fanfics about him - for more detailed info look into the SWTOR fanfiction section or to my biography section on the Jen'Jidai forum)). Vellic was born the priviledged son of an Echani politician. Yet as all Echani, his mind was filled with thoughts of battle and conflict. His twin and he looked so much the same and yet were quiet different. For some reason, Vellic always seemed ahead of his brother - so much faster and stronger.

There came a time, as Vellic began first experiencing the life of a mature male, that he found a Mirialan woman. Ilaska was beautiful and seductive. For some reason she was also keenly interested in impressing these facts upon Vellic - and impress she did. He was easily enthralled by her, to the frustration and anger of his father and brother.

Unbeknownst to Vellic, Ilaska was there to lure him out into an isolated area so that the bounty hunter Jinko Norba could capture him. An exchange boss had sent the bounty hunter to capture him, under orders from a sith lord, so that they might covertly blackmail and manipulate his father. Yet Vellic killed the bounty hunter - and Ilaska for her betrayal. There were witnesses, at least of his killing of Ilaska, and he was suspected as a murderer. It did not help that he immediately fled the planet, in pursuit of vengeance.

Vellic sought out his attackers and found himself attacking the exchange. He found the boss Demmith Jhar's hideout and snuck inside. He battled his way through the halls, killing guards and cutting a bloody path towards Demmith's inner sanctum - but to no avail. Vellic was strong, but he was no jedi. The guards finally managed to overwhelm and stun him. Demmith was pleased to finally have his captive, but the master sith was not. Vellic was now fully suspected of murder, and as such - was next to useless to their plans. And yet, he could sense the young man's power..and so he took him from Demmith.

Vellic learned of his new master's plans and what he and Demmith had done to him. He hated them both for it, and he hated himself for causing his brother's death. Vellic trained in the sith combat arts as only an Echani can - throwing himself ritualistically into every aspect of saber combat, as if dire commitment were enough to burn away his memories.

As Vellic's mastery of the sith arts grew, so did his fascination with bounty hunters. Or rather, with the hunting of prey. It interested him and gave him focus, and so his master encouraged him - sending him on journies to eliminate or capture increasingly more important targets. As Vellic's interest in the hunt grew, so did his master's disdain of Demmith. Demmith was incompetent, and there were inferiors far better suited to his position. So, as Demmith's usefulness waned - he found himself being overthrown and made into a present...for Vellic; quelling at least some of the passion for vengeance that had so long beat within his chest.

Yet Vellic's master did not want him to have the chance to find redemption, to perhaps return home to his family; and so he went to his homeworld and swayed the mind of his father - making him believe that Vellic was a murderer, and that he had no desire other than to hunt down his father and claim the "bounty" that lay on his head. And so he then sent Vellic home - commanding him to sever ties with his father, and to return to him. Vellic obeyed, returning home rather uncertainly, not sure of what he ought to be doing there. Yet he found himself set upon by the authorities. Battles insued, and an enraged Vellic killed his father. He then took up what he could of the family assets and snuck off of the planet - never to return.

Current RP Backstory: (This is more of an overview of things which have already been RPd.) After joining with the Jen'jidai, Vellic began training at their temple. Shortly after joining, Aeten II was invaded by a T'surr fleet and Vellic joined a guerilla force, lead by the bounty hunter Mithias, to help in the defense of the planet.

Sometime after the planet was once again safe, Vellic found himself tasked with a diplomatic mission. He didn't know it, but this mission was a trial for the secretive Jiassjen; a group of diplomats and assassins, serving under the Saarai-Kaar.

Later, as his training progressed, he found himself under the attention of Lord Thelxepia. Gradually, she took a greater hand in his training - drawing his interests away from combat and refocusing it, at least in part, into strengthening his telekinetic and later - energy manipulating powers. As his powers grew, she made him her Archon, tasking him with serving as her aide and fellow Saarai-Kaar. Yet there was a problem, Vellic's past continued coming back to haunt him, even causing him to associate his new mentor with his former master, Lord Keisa. Thelxepia challenged him and tasked him with facing his past, lest she abandon him where he is to stagnate and be remain stunted by it.

In time, and with the aide of a certain set of painful coincidences during a raid on a Republic spy post, Vellic managed to let go of the confusion of his past. Though still troubled by it, for the first time in many years - he was able to look towards his future. And the future soon became the problem. For it was not long before Vellic found himself haunted by disturbing visions of the future. Not the near-future, but a distant prophecy which seemed to spell certain doom for them in the present; visions of a new balance born from the struggle of just two individuals. A new prophetic talent began emerging, but Vellic swore to defy the things he saw - to strive to create victory for the sith.

Appearances in Fiction:

A Naive Beginning

The Road to Vengeance

Shaped By Sith

The Force Shall Set Me Free

Dramatis Personae:

Ilaska Pavetira: Mirialan who assists the Bounty Hunter Jenko Norba in getting Vellic out into an exposed area so that he can be secretly captured. She seduces and manipulates him in order to get him alone. Their plan fails and she is murdered by Vellic.

Maris Duranis: Vellic's brother. They were identicle in appearance, but his brother was not force sensitive. The two were rather close, but his brother always envied the ease at which Vellic seemed to surpass him in virtually everything. Because of this, he adopted a somewhat sneering and superior posture over Vellic whenever possible. Maris was gunned down by the bounty hunter Jenko Norba.

Jenko Norba: Human bounty hunter. Accepted a mission from the Exchange boss Demmith Jhar in order to capture Vellic. His plan failed and he was killed by Vellic.

Vardi Duranis: Vellic's father. An Echani of the political caste whom Vellic's master persuaded to believe that Vellic aimed to hunt and kill him. He confronted and attempted to arrest Vellic, resulting in his death by Vellic's hands.

Demmith Jhar: Exchange boss working at the bidding of Vellic's master. He organizes the capture of Vellic in order to blackmail and manipulate Vellic's father. His plan fails but he manages to capture Vellic. Later, Vellic's master orchestrates an overthrow of the useless boss and presents him as a gift to Vellic when he finally achieves the rank of Knight. Vellic kills him.

Darth Keisa Sharas: Vellic's original master who took him from Demmith Jhar and inducted him into a long period of servitude as her apprentice. A "Darth, not worthy of the title that she'd given herself" as Vellic called her. She was said to be beautiful of body, yet not of personality. She was not an overtly powerful nor seductive creature - yet she was ambitious and sought increasing power. Over all, she was spiteful of all others and decidedly cruel.

Keisa was a female Zabrak, with dark tanned skinned and yellow eyes. Six horns adorned the fore of her head in a descending V pattern. She looked much like the standard "intimidating sith" image that she tried so frequently to portray, with her dark robes and extended red light saber. She was not overtly power, yet she was a skilled duelist and master of the Ataru form, and more importantly, she was crafty and vindictive. She was also known to be rather skilled with the Force Corruption ability.

It was Keisa who set in motion the failed kidnapping of Vellic and who later took him on as her pupil, claiming that she "would bend him to the darkside, or she would break him."
