After the Treaty of Coruscant...
Background: After the republic sent representatvies to Alderaan to negotiate the offered treaty with the Sith, Coruscant was attacked. The Sith forces under Darth Angral, (after some of the republics best Veterans left with the representives to Alderaan) Attacked the Jedi Temple and disabled the power to all of Coruscant by attacking the power generator (which was secretly in the Jedi Temple) Bringing Coruscant to its Knees. When word reached Alderaan the terms were the Sith would not leave Coruscant and restore power until the treaty was signed and the reps had no choice but to sign. But this changed things into the Sith's favor entirely the republic had to lay down its arms and they had to leave many of the bases they had in systems across the galaxy. Including some of their most Ardent allies including the Bothans.
The attack on Bothawui
After The Republic had left the Sith immediately blockaded the planet. They Starved out Bothawui from all kinds of supplies and then attacked. Once Sith troops had reached the surface they easily defeated the hungry and tired Bothans. Finally in attempt to stop the violence they heads of Bothawui formally surrendered shortly before the anniversary of the Destruction of the Star Forge. The planet now under Sith control saw immediate action, the Republic saw that this 'peace' could no longer last. The senate acted immediately sending a group of Jedi volunteers to Bothawui to liberate it.
'The Liberation of Bothawui'
Once the Jedi had touched down first they had to get troops. So they inspired and rallied volunteers to free a prison which imprisoned most of what was left of the Bothan army. The Attack was a complete success using stealth technology created by the Bothan military the small strike force snuck to the control room and freed and armed all the prisoners all of the Sith guards were either dead,captured or wounded in a matter of minutes. All of they escaped prisoners (and a few defectors) joined the Bothan militia and they quickly won Bothawui back until piece by piece 'till they got to the captial city of Drev'starn. The Sith had neglected to replace the Bothan city defenses with Sith ones and just repaired the Bothan defenses, this turned out to be their downfall. Bothan engineers quickly turning the defenses on the Sith, the Sith fell in full retreat to their ships to escape to orbit but the Jedi along with some Bothan saboteurs disabled their ships. the Sith being surrounded on all sides soon were slaughtered the men of Drev'starn rushed out of their homes with weapons to join the fight as women and children watched the battle from the rooftops. Few Dark Jedi were there and the Sith troops were easily defeated by the combined strength of the Jedi and the intelligence and cunning of the Bothans. The Imperial governor was found by the Bothan general cowereing in his office the governor begged for mercy and the general responded "you mean the same 'mercy' you showed when you attacked? the 'mercy' you showed to the brave men and woman of the Bothan military? MY MEN, you are undeserving of mercy and he shot the governor was dead and the Jedi too late to stop the General.
Rejoining the Republic and pushing back the Sith
After weeks of clearing wreckage and debris, recovering the wounded and dead, and repairing structures the Jedi finally got a transmission to Coruscant reporting their mission a success with the surface of Bothawui recovered. The senate sent a space force that arrived five standard days after the transmission. The combined might of the Republic space forces, ships from the surface and surface to space guns being manned the Sith space forces were decimated and the blockade broken, the Sith had been pushed out of Bothan space and back too the outer rim. After Republic day and the new galactic year beginning the Bothans officially rejoined the republic and the president of Bothawui stated "We always had faith the Republic had not abandoned us and we were right". Of course this angered the Sith emperor and he began his attacks on Republic space once more.
