Riorden Delmon

Riorden is a Master Healer of the Jedi order, former member of a jedi strike team known as the Three-Headed Krayt Dragon along with friends Lucien Starlace and Torim Fatir. He is also the father of Setsuna Andal.

Appearance

Riorden is a taller man who has the face one expects to find on rogues and scoundrels; not on jedi. His hair is a shaggy mane of dark brown that he just lets hang and makes him look more like a drifter. With age obviously it has started to gray. His gray eyes are often compared to a brooding storm, giving him the air of a broken and wounded man.

He often wears a long brown coat instead of robes to better blend in with the locals. He also always wears high necks shirts to hide a burn scar from a lightsaber burn that cuts across his throat.

One notable thing he now carries on him is a datapad modified to speak for him. Since cybernetic implants would weaken his force sensitivity Riorden opted to carry the pad permanently chained to his belt. He usually tries sign language first and prefers telepathy; he is however smart enough to know that people might not know, or like those two methods of communication, hence the datapad.

History

Early Years and Spy Games

Much of the information regarding Riorden's formative years was locked away shortly after he became a jedi knight. He became a spy for them shortly afterwards. Though it is not known how much the Council agreed on this since he seems to have gotten recalled a few times. While behind enemy lines though Riorden was very good at what he did. Though he had more then a few close calls and ended up in sith cells often enough. His talents in healing however helped sustain him from torture methods and made interrogating him near impossible.

Surprisingly this double life did not seem to have much effect on Riorden. If anything he got a reputation for being the kind of jedi everyone aspired to be. One that was always calm and serene even in the face of fire and in the heart of darkness.

This, coupled with a Council act allowing jedi to have relationships approved lead a number of women to Riorden's doorstep though. With the Jedi needing more students to train for the war against the Sith and one of Riorden's friends already married, women seemed to think Riorden would welcome their attentions.

This was not the case however and Riorden did not take kindly to all of the sudden attention. He constantly took to having to hide out in the temples, which lead to him meeting two interesting individuals.

The Three-Headed Krayt Dragon

During one of his times hiding Riorden met a socially awkward man named Torim Fatir. The two hit it off quickly and through Torim, Riorden met Lucien Starlace. The three became fast friends and being all knights at the time, quickly teamed up on missions. Riorden took it upon himself to help Torim learn how to talk to a girl. Even going so far at to hire a stripper to give Torim practice. This lead to the trio liberating an establishment on Coruscant called The Jolly Gizka and putting it under the management of a zeltron named Vera Navarr.

Sometime during their misadventures Lucien married and the other two came to adore his daughter Kirin. Though they all remained on active duty it was uncommon for them not to be all on Naboo with Lucien and his family when on leave.

The three men formed an almost unbeatable team when together, so much that the Council had no issues assigning them all to the same postings. However Riorden at least started becoming arrogant about the team. While he did not behave in a completely reckless manner, he constantly strove to challenge the lot, even taking it upon himself to have the group do preemptive strikes against sith targets. The Council chewed all three out of for these instances but little seemed to faze Riorden at least.

Unfortunately for him, the Force took it upon itself to humble him in the worst, or best, way possible.

Meeting Kelna

While posted on Ilum; Riorden, Torim, and Lucien commenced a preemptive strike against Lord General Darmuk's base of the operations. Even knowing the Sith Lord had a contingent of Bladeborn in his base. They took it as a challenge.

During the escape Riorden spotted a severely injured woman in the snow. Due to his upbringing and teaching he gave little thought to helping the woman. This lead to the three men taking her with them back to their own headquarters, in spite of her obvious allegiance to the Sith Empire.

Shortly after their strike they were granted leave to Naboo. Opting to take still heavily wounded woman with them, thinking that they could help her find redemption. Torim was vocally opposed to the entire scheme and even Lucien seemed uneasy about the matter many times. Both however seemed to sense something wrong with Riorden around the woman.

Kelna Andal however, did not react as anticipated. She was not interested in redemption and was only concerned about her daughter Istara. Upon regaining consciousness she attacked, almost getting beheaded by Torim in the process of trying to take over the ship. During her interrogation she saw something after Riorden restrained her that made her panic and attempt to stay away from him entirely. (Story Pending)

On His Own

Years later Riorden would show up on Coruscant, though this time alone. His friends having been lost in the war.

After Torim's death and Lucien's disappearance, the Council attempted to keep Riorden on Tython. For surveillance; thinking he had something to do with both matters or because they thought he might be the next target for whoever is unknown. The Jedi hoped Riorden would take up a teaching position, particularly since he was starting to slow down with his age.

However Riorden was not about to let Lucien's disappearance or Torim's murder go unchecked. Against the wishes of the Council Riorden took personal leave and went hunting.

It was following a poor lead that lead him to Byt's and Pieces, a pawn shop on Coruscant. Though the lead was a dead end, and the owner of the shop walloped Riorden for being a jedi in his shop. Riorden did however help one Jedi Knight Aciea Skar'kla in a minor street fight with a local gang. He then tagged along with her and her companions (Jak a salvager, Rakio Braxus a force sensitive young man, Koden Killix an enigmatic man in battle armor) on a mission securing an ancient sith artifact, using his status as a master and war veteran to secure time to inspect the artifact before creatures spawned from it and attacked.

During the fight the Sith were alerted to the group's presence. A miralian woman named Draika appeared to assist the lot, taking them to her father and her order hiding in a compound. Riorden was immediately uneasy of Draika since her appearance and her seer father reminded him of Kelna. No one got to rest much unfortunately as the sith had followed them. They killed Draika's father and to escape Riorden took the lot to the Jolly Gizka to hide and rest while they came up with a plan. Much to the irritation of the female members of the group. Personality

"Master Riorden Delmon was a good friend, like an older brother I never had." Torim Fatir about Riorden.

In his younger years Riorden got the reputation of being cold. He had little tolerance for what he saw as disrespect and general stupidity of others. Even going so far as to pitch a girl out onto the snows of Ilum when she snuck into his bunk, without clothes.

Even with those he cares about he seems reserved and controlled. He often expects people to act with some sense of decorum but is not above enforcing it. When Torim would start to go off chasing after women Riorden was there to collar and pull him back, preaching all the while that Torim should aim for quality over quantity. He never however completely prevented Torim from chasing or reported such behavior, believing that unless it was around him, it was Torim's business and choice to be lecherous.

Likewise however, Riorden would try to get his more serious friends to ease up and enjoy life, as seen with Lucien. Though like with Torim, Riorden never pressed to much for folks to change, leaving them to figure it out for themselves.

Riorden at his core though is a caring individual who will cross lines for those he cares about, going even further for those he loves. Such as when he hid Kelna (Kaosis) presence from the jedi, for fear they would hurt her.

Riorden also is a curious person by nature and is always driven to piece things together. This habit has gotten him in trouble a number of times. Most notably, it was his drive to figure out why Kelna was at the sith base on Ilum that lead to the pair butting heads and eventually hearts, though both knew it was a bad idea.

Powers and Abilities

Riorden is an excellent saber combatant and specialized in support force powers. He is an old hand at breaking and entering and sabotage, along with stealth. Though he certainly had slowed down with this due to age.

In his younger years Riorden favored the Niman and Shien styles of lightsaber combat. Niman for one on one fights and Shien for when he was outnumbered and running. Due to age he has started dropping back on Soresu more, though the other two styles still remain favorites.

Riorden has shown a strong talent in passive force powers and healing. Notably he is a strong practitioner of Force Valor, to the point of making a small trained team and him almost unbeatable when they were together.

He is a master in healing techniques. To the point where he was granted the title Master Healer. He is however technically still a knight in other respects, due to being demoted after the 'incident' that left him without a voice.

Due to his disability Riorden has learned sign language and knows how to type one handed. He has also mastered Telepathy for when the other two simply won't do.

Unknown to many folks, Riorden also has an few dark side abilities in his force library. Notably Force Crush and Drain Knowledge. However no one has yet seen him use them since he was pulled off spying duties, though many are still uneasy about him running around with the knowledge of those abilities. It should be noted that the use of either ability severely drains Riorden, since he is not corrupted by the dark side, yet.

Finally, Riorden has shown himself to be something of a thief. He 'borrows' and thinks of buying things 'with a five finger discount'. So far though, he has not had to employ much thieving in his journeys often.

Comments from the Creator

Riorden started out an NPC that took on a life of his own. There are parallels between Riorden and the character Micheal Westen from Burn Notice. Oddly enough the Creator had never seen the show till after making Riorden, but does credit it with helping her get into his head more.

Riorden has two theme songs. What Hurts The Most by Rascall Flatts equates to his relationship with Kelna Andal while Famous Last Words by My Chemical Romance applies to him currently. The song is fitting due to Riorden being the last member of the Three Headed Krayt Dragon squad still active, along with surviving the brutal break up with Kelna.
