Appearance

Hollister is a military man through and through with short cropped black hair and one piercing green eye; the other surrendered to cybernetics which gives off a faint red glow. Most commonly found in his Matrix Armour (modified specifically to his liking) he has a scar on the left side of his face exposing some of the cybernetics he had installed after The Battle of The Guardian.

Languages

Hollister is fluent in the following four languages:

Galactic Basic

Dosh

Mando'a

Binary

Family

FATHER: Jacob Sabastian Hollister (Deceased)
MOTHER: Jaina Ellen Hollister (Alive, living on Taris)
SISTER: Rebecca Jean Hollister (Deceased)
BROTHER: Patrick Robert Hollister (Deceased)
UNCLE: Victor "Decker" Bowman (Alive, whereabouts unknown)

Personality

Calm and reserved, Michael tends to internalize a lot of his thoughts and has a tendency to speak only when issuing orders or confirming actions. His military upbringing left little room for idle chatter or small talk and as such he finds social situations that require such niceties somewhat awkward and unnecessary. Exceptionally calm in most high-pressure situations - especially combat - he has a commanding demeanor and hates lies and deceitful behavior. His lack of intricate social skills means that despite his often appealing appearance, he tends to have very little luck when building romantic relationships, something which is painfully evident to him when he considers the very slow progress with Lady Jeth.
Since The Battle of The Guardian he has found himself questioning his humanity on a regular basis, unsure of what makes him 'human' anymore. To that end he has a habit of keeping trivial keepsakes which remind him of his past and tends to struggle a little to hard to keep friendly relationships, considering them a vital tether to what it means to be 'alive'.

Early Years

Jacob and Jaina Hollister came to Taris in 3,690 BBY as part of a larger group of colonists various worlds who had heard that the world was rebuilding after the evens of 3,956 BBY. Rumours were that there were plenty of opportunities to be had for those willing to work for them, and the Hollisters were one such couple. Able to afford a modest appartment in the Middle City, Jacob found work as a droid-repairman while Jaina started first part-time then became a full-time teacher. Her job lasted only 4 years however as the couple discovered in the autumn of 3,686 BBY that they were pregnant. Nine months later in the summer of 3,685 they had their first child, Michael. In the years that would follow, the couple would have two other children, Rebecca and Patrick. Michael was a quick learner and adept at problem-solving, mathematics and various sciences. A quiet child, he did not make friends easily and (as children are want to do) spent many of his younger school days suffering physical and phychological bullying. This behaviour vanished shortly after he was twelve years old when he not only grew considerably during puberty but also took an interest in physical fitness and training. When he realised how easily he could look after himself and others, plus his academic upbringing it was hardly suprising that Michael looked into law enforcement, which he enrolled with at the age of eighteen.

The Streets of Taris ( 3,666 - 3,662 BBY )

From the age of nineteen until he was twenty-three years old, Hollister was a model officer in the Taris Civil Authority and excelled at his position. Somewhat more heavy-handed than some of the other officers in his unit, he was nevertheless a stickler for discipline, regimen and the service of the planet's judicial system. The conflict between Republic and Sith forces had been going on for as long as he could remember, and although he enjoyed his work and got a sense of achievement, he often secretly dreamt of getting involved with the republic and fighting the forces of The Sith Empire. The collective memory of Taris was long, and even after well over two-hundred years the planet still suffered the scars of Darth Malak's bombardment. Though few native survivors from that incident had lived through the initial attack, their hatred passed down through generations. Though his parents were not Tarisians, Hollister himself was and he felt a patriotic duty to ensure the people he was protecting on a daily basic could be shielded from threats larger than a local crime sydicate.

Early Military Career ( 3,662 - 3,659 BBY )

As fate would have it, Hollister didnt have long until he got his wish. In 3,662 BBY a Rupublic Assault Frigate took orbit around Taris, part of a larger fleet heading out to face Sith Warships on the front-lines. In an unscheduled stop it left several Rupublic Troops on leave on the planet while emergency repairs were carried out on the vessel, a ship known as The Ascension. After much negociations and performance testing, Hollister left the Taris Civil Authority and joined the Republic Army as part of the New Taris Division. He joined at the same time as his younger brother Patrick, despite asking him several times not to sign up as Michael believed him to be too young at just eighteen. Rebecca, however remained behind on Taris with their mother and father. During his tour of duty, Hollister rose from Private to Second Lieutenant, First Leiutenant, Captain, Major and after some time recruited into SpecOps, finally Lieutenant Colonel. He served on many vessels of varying size and purpose, spending most of his time near the front lines. It was during his time as Major that he met and served with Anvon Grenn, an Iotran who would later go on to become Commander of IPF at High Port and even a one-time member of the Iotran Joint Council.
His brother Patrick did not remain in the Republic Army, instead transferring to Republic Navy. Patrick Hollister was K.I.A aboard The Resplendant in a pitch battle with Sith Warships in 3,658 BBY.
Three members of Hollister's SpecOps team remained with him after in his tour with the military and eventually became his crew aboard The Argo: Terras Wist, a Human from Coruscant who was a superb marksman; Lussk Morta, a Trandoshan melee weapons specialist (who incidently taught Hollister how to speak Dosh) and Tolias Gallan, a Human from Naboo who had a knack for piloting almost any vehicle.
Though Hollister went into battle in the name of the Republic against many and numerous foes from Mandalorians to Dark Jedi, across many different locales from Dathomir to Utapau, it would be his very homeworld of Taris that would shape his fate and alter his course forever.

The Battle of The Guardian ( 3,658 BBY )

While Lieutenant Colonel Hollister served as head of ground troops aboard a Hammerhead-class capital ship called The Harbringer II under the command of Rear Admiral Skaldis, an order came in from Fleet Command to head to Taris and rendezvous with several other ships to help defend the planet which was reporting hostile movement from local Sith Warships. Arriving on the scene The Harbringer II found that the inital waves of a battle were already engaging in the skies above Taris. As Republic vessels squared off against a fleet of Sith (primarily Sith fighters and smaller frigates, but more than enough Derriphan-class battleships to cause a serious problem), The Harbringer II entered the fray and helped cut a line through the Sith vessels, forcing them into two seperate lines of attack. Landing craft from the Warships were also heading down to the planet however, and Hollister requested to the Rear Admiral that a ground assault force may be required to aid in the defence of the Lower, Middle and Upper Cities of Taris. Leading a large force down to the surface, Hollister found Sith Warriors combing the Middle City and destroying buildings and killing those inside and moving onto the next. Despite the Taris Civil Authority trying their best to fend off the Sith, they were being overwhelmed and so Hollister and Republic soldiers began sweeping the city fighting off Sith and reclaiming key points. As Tarisians began flooding to shelters, word reached Hollister that although his mother – Jaina – was safe, it seemed his father and sister were killed by Warriors defending her and their home. Despite his grief, Hollister kept his military resolve but could not discern what the Sith forces were searching for.
This struggle, which at first appeared to be an invasion to retake Taris for the Sith Empire turned out to be a massive strike offensive to reach something upon the surface of importance to The Sith. Later named The Battle of The Guardian by the populace in honour of the Taris Civil Authority who fought to protect civilians and the Republic fleet that came to their aid.

Intervention of Fate (3,657 BBY )

The skirmishes on the streets of Taris were not a quick or precise affair, lasting well over three days. The battle in space was equally difficult with no one side easily overcoming the other. While attempting to force out a group of Sith that had overtaken a small military compound in the Middle City, Hollister's forces took heavy loses but eventually prevailed. All of the Warriors seemed almost fanatical about protecting the compound, each member fighting to the death. Once cleared of hostiles, the Rupublic soldiers began searching the compound in an attempt to discover what the Sith were trying to protect. Although this proved futile, Hollister found something far more worrying: an unexploded bomb. Evacuating the building, Hollister attempted to diffuse the bomb but discovered too late that not only was it not able to be disarmed, but it was triggered to explode quicker if tampered with. The explosion from within the compound sent out a shock-wave that knocked most of the onlooking troops off their feet as a huge fireball rose into the air. As soon as safely possible, soldiers and fire-fighters worked their way into the wreckage and miraculously found Hollister still alive – just. His body crushed and pinned under masonry; punctured and impaled in several vital organs. It was evident that to move Hollister was to kill him. Contacting the Harbringer II, Morta received orders to keep him alive as a medical team appeared with a Field Bacta tank. Cleared of personnel, only the medial team and Morta saw how little of Hollister was removed from the wreckage: The Bacta tank emerged shrouded in secrecy, containing only Michael Hollister's partial skull, brain, right eye and a portion of his spinal column.
Though Hollister is still not sure who, 'somebody' arranged for his remaining body parts to be brought whilst in stasis to High Port, the station surrounding the planet Muunilinst that is funded and run by The Intergalactic Banking Clan. There, over the course seven months, a team of Muun and Mon Calamari Cyberneticists worked tirelessly in re-creating Hollister's body, effectively creating him an entire cyber-body for his partial spine and skull to be connected to. Covered in the latest version of Synthskin from head to toe, Michael Hollister regained consciousness late in 3,657 BBY as a full conversion Cyborg. He remained in seclusion for a full month as he learned the capabilities and limitations of his new cybernetic body and underwent testing and several synaptic-pathway re-wiring proceedures. He was released back into active duty at the beginning of 3,656 BBY but spent a few weeks recouperating in High Port, this being the time he first met Lady Nalia Jeth(see below).
Despite several professional and personal investigations and even with his military rank and status, Hollister was unable to find out who ordered his reconstruction and paid the hefty sum of credits required for such a proceedure. All he was able to discern was that it was at least partially (if not totally) military-funded due to the amount of "Classified" barriers he ran into whilst investigating.

Going Freelance ( 3,656 BBY - Present)

Who had been responsible for his cybernetic reconstruction was something which ate away at Michael. A part of him wanted to find who was responsible and thank them for saving his life, giving him another chance. Yet a smaller part of him - a part which was steadily growing - was not sure that he was meant to be alive at all, that his very existance was an abberation, something that simply should not be.
A week before he was due to report back for active duty aboard the Harbringer II, the Lieutenant-Colonel made a life-decision. He had to find out why he had this second life and, until he did so he could not properly commit to the Republic Army as the soldier he once was. When the Harbringer II arrived back at High Port, Hollister handed in his resignation assuming that indoing so it might reveal his body was militarily-funded when they declined his request. Rear Admiral Skaldis seemed unsuprised by Hollister's decision however, almost as if he expected something similar. He accepted Hollister's decision, but made him a counter-offer:
The Army wished to keep Hollister around as an agent working for them, outside of the usual command structure. They would pay him a modest wage of credits and would pay for the annual maintainance his body would require in exchange for bi-annual information downloads to their information mainframes - in other words he would be an unofficial Republican informant. His security clearance and non-official rank would be lowered to Captain but he would have no other ties or benefits connecting to the military.
Seeing this as a opportunity to allow him to discover more about what happened to him, Hollister agreed on two conditions:
1. The military would provide him with a small starship, completely transferred to his name and
2. He was allowed to pick three crew for the ship from military ranks and if they agreed, they were to be honourably discharged.
The Rear Admiral considered this and agreed, on the provision of one final condition: Hollister's reconstruction must remain secret, and he must only receive treatement from military-approved medics.
One week later after all the paperwork had been finallised, Captain Hollister, Terras Wist, Lussk Morta, and Tolias Gallan were honourably discharged from The Republic Army with full honours and left High Port Station about The Argo, a Dynamic-Class Freighter to begin their new lives as private citizens.

Recent Activities

Since going independant from the Republic Army, Hollister has worked as a mercenary, bodyguard and courier but refuses to get involved in anything underhanded. The only real subterfuge in his lifestyle is that he an informant for the Republic but he considers this a moral duty due mostly to the fact he does not wish the Sith to gain any more power than they already have.

Aiding Valik

Hollister and his crew (at which time included Tolias Gallan as pilot) first encountered the hulking wall of rage that was Valik in the winter of 3,656 BBY when they were asked to aid in the capture of a paticularly powerful Feeorin on the planet of Axum. Sent there by military command, he was warned that this Feeorin was exceptionally strong, and he found that to be an understatement. Even with his fully-cyborg body and the aid of several security droids and Axum security teams, they were barely able to keep the rampaging giant restrained long enough for him to be subdued. Before he lost consciousness, Valik became lucid for a little under a moment and managed to explain to Hollister that it was not his fault. Discussing things with the chief of Axum security, Hollister was able to pull a few strings and take Valik into military custody and transported him to the only person he knew might be able to help him - Nalia Jeth.
Upon delving into his mind, Nalia discovered the awful truth of what had happened to Valik, and aided him by burying his more agressive side but explained to Hollister that the process would not be permanent. Since that time Hollister has brought Valik before Nalia many times, and in the space between visits the two have worked together and saved each others lives on several occasions. Now Hollister is one of the few people Valik really trusts.

The Lady of High Port

Hollister spent a few months recovering at High Port station after being quite literally put back together. Though he spent most of his time in physical and mental training regimen, he spent his spare time exploring the station with what limited security clearance he was granted prior to being back on active duty.
It was during one of these such walks that he met Lady Nalia Jeth, an Arkanian Diplomat as he was walking in one of the vast hydroponic gardens on the station. The stunning Arkanian woman seemed unusually tolerant and pleasant to those not of her own kind and although he had seen her from afar a few times before, Michael had never really had the chance to speak to her before. Not only did the two find they had much in common, but they continued to meet daily at the same spot until a little more than a week later when they decided to spend more time together. After a brief and somewhat awkward few dates, Hollister was recalled to active duty and had to leave the station before the two could become better aquainted. Although they have met a few times since, they have never had the opportunity to rekindle what they once had, though the Captain still holds a place for her in his heart.

Cybernetics

Hollister is a full-conversion Cyborg. Only his brain, right eye and part of his spinal-column are organic. Here is a list of some of his cybernetics:

Laser-Reflective Construction Body-parts

Though it does nothing to protect his sytheskin, all of the metal 'flesh' of his body is coated in a laser-reflective sheen which directs most of the energy from laser-blasts away from the body causing minimal damage. Laser weapons are approximately 45% less effective. Parts covered by this coating include both arms & shoulders, both legs & hips, collarbones, spine, ribcage, pelvis, torso casing, neck & skull.

Human Simulation Cosmetic Enchancement

As well as the Sytheskin, plus an artificial circulatory system with imitation blood vessels, thermal network for warm skin, and sweat & tear glands. Improved cosmetic appearance. Note: genitalia function sexually but not reproductively. Full facial reconstruction with total face mobility and expression.

Replacement Vital Life-Support Systems

Glandular, Digestive, Respiratory and Cardiac.

Improved Life-Support Systems

Long-Term Nutrient Tank

Can survive on only 100 ml of water a week, replacing loss from the recycling system. 4-week supply of nutrient can be produced via recycling of normal foodstuffs.

Internal Bio-Monitor

Comes with optional external readout. People don't realise that it's *hard* to determine the medical condition of an injured borg! You can't go by pulse, or lividity, or pupillary response. Using this Hollister can diagnose his medical condition at any time.

Oxygen Storage Tank

Lasts 32 hours under normal conditions, or 4 hours in a vaccume.

Inhaled Toxin Filter

Filters out most airborne non-corrosive toxins.

Sensory & Communication Systems

Amplified Ultrasonic Audio

Can hear quiet speech at 100m, stealthy movement at 50m, heartbeats at 10m. Permits the detection of very high-frequency sounds such as stealthy footsteps, some machinery, moving clothes & equipment, and ultrasonic transmissions up to 100m distance.

Chemical Analysis System

Identifies simple & complex chemicals from a database of over 1,000 items. New items, including personal odours, can be logged and tagged, and later ID'ed with 95% accuracy.

Low Concentration Chemical Recognition System

Can identify very low concentrations of specific chemicals, continually re-evaluating the concentration. Can be used to track by smell, with the usual bonuses and drawbacks, with 75% accuracy.

Military-grade Multi-optic left eye

Includes: Flare Protection (Transmits no blinding light levels), Telescopic Vision Enhancement (Magnification up to 100x), Low Light Vision (Monochrome night vision to 600m), IR/UV Vision (This is not seeing heat levels it appears as monochrome vision. Range 300m. Functions as night vision outside, or with the aid of an IR or UV illuminator), Thermal Imaging (Range 150m), Laser Rangefinder (Improves aiming, Range 2000m.), Integral Gun Optical Link (An optical link which sees directly along the weapon's line of fire).

Sensory Information Recorder Package

A digital recorder records all information from artificial senses. Maximum 60 hours storage.

Gyro-Compass

Provides a perfect sense of direction (with respect to magnetic north and up/down).

Clock Calendar

Provides a perfect sense of time. Includes a silent alarm.

Sleep Sensor Alarm

Monitors the borg's sensors while the borg sleeps. When preset parameters are exceeded (movement in vision or audio range, for instance) the borg wakens.

External Bio-Monitor

When touched to bare flesh or to another biomonitor (another borg's internal, for instance) it provides a description of the subject's physical condition. Can be used as a crude polygraph (57% accurate).

Visual Motion Sensor

Compares visual images microsecond by microsecond, taking the borg's own movement into account, and identifies things that are moving. Pretty much rendered useless by wind-blown material, such as rain, snow, leaves, etc.

Magnetic Anomaly Detector

Short range: 3m. Can detect the presence of borgs, droids, vehicles and other large masses of metal. Also allows the locating of wires and power sources inside walls, etc.

Built-in Weaponry

Retractable Forearm Vibro-Blade

30cm long.

Monofilament Whip

A retracting reel of monomolecular wire tipped with a lead weight and used like a ball-and-chain.

Locking Handgrip

Using this system, a hand can be locked in place (even dismemberment or electrocution will not alter its position) until deliberately unlocked by the borg using an internal code system. Makes an excellent hand cuff and is an aid in climbing.

Defensive Systems

Water Immersion Protection

Immersion, other than about knee-deep or spattering from rain, can lead to malfunction & death for borgs. Water Immersion Protection seals a borg's body against moisture down to 200m depth.

Electric Surge Protection

Pretty self-explanitory!

Sensory Reduction Package

Reduced Radar Return Coating (Detection by radar is reduced by about 50%), Reduced IR Signature (Detection with thermographics is difficult (-60%). This system can not be used indefinitely, since when in use the borg must vent heat every hour (less if generating extensive internal heat), Reduced Sonic Signature (Does not apply to the sounds of gross movement, but of moving parts and internal systems which can give the borg away when motionless).
