Flight
Type: P
· Target: 4
· Duration: S
· Drain: +2 (L)
This spell is a specialization of the Levitate spell,
allowing the caster to fly at great speed. The caster can move at a rate of
speed equal to his Magic Attribute multiplied by the number of successes from
the Sorcery Test (up to a maximum number of successes equal to the spell's
Force) times five in meters per turn.
The target number of the Sorcery Test is increased by
+1 for every full 100 kilograms of mass to be moved by the spell, including the
caster's own body, his clothing and equipment. The caster chooses the maximum
weight allowance when casting the spell; if this maximum is exceeded later, the
caster will be forced to land or even crash uncontrolled according to the
gamemaster's discretion.
If maneuvering in tight surroundings or forced to
suddenly evade obstacles, the caster might have to succeed in a Quickness test
against a Target Number determined by the gamemaster. Assume that a speed of one
fifth of the maximum speed is usually a safe speed to maneuver indoors or in
combat situations.
If the caster bumps into anything while flying, both he
and the object he crashed into take a damage according to the Impact Damage
rules on p. 145, SR3. The caster's impact armor protects him against this
damage. Combat pool cannot be used to assist in the Damage Resistance Test.
Reduce the damage to the object by one level, as the impacting magician tends to
be a soft projectile.
This spell can only be used on the caster and anything
he is carrying.
